PCA
3 Manual
0024-9473 Rev 4 65
The printout shown in Figure 5-23 shows typical combustion test results of an
analyzer containing O
2
, CO
LOW
, NO, and NO
2
sensors. Note that since the SO
2
sensor is not installed, three stars (* * *) appear in their data fields.
NOTE: Three Stars (***) appear in the data field of sensors that are
not calibrated or installed, and in the data fields of that sensor’s
related calculated values.
NOTE: Three hyphens or dashes (---) indicate that the calculated
data cannot be displayed because the measured data necessary to
make the calculation is out of range (i.e., oxygen level above 16%).
NOTE: Three Xs (i.e., X X X) indicate the sensor is over range.
5.17. Turning Off the Analyzer and Purging
Turn OFF the analyzer by pressing the
I/O
button for at least 2
seconds, or until
two beeps are heard. The unit will count down 5
seconds before shutting down,
giving the operator an opportunity to keep the analyzer turned ON by pressing
the
RUN/HOLD
button.
If the PCA
®
3 was not purged with fresh air (as described in Ending a Combustion
Test on page 53), then the analyzer may remain ON with its pump running and
display the message “PURGING SENSORS” as the result of combustion gases
still being present inside the analyzer. At this time the operator should ensure
that the probe is removed from the stack, allowing the analyzer to purge itself
with fresh air. The 5-second shutdown sequence will not begin until the gas
levels inside the analyzer drop below predetermined levels.
NOTE: Although not recommended, the purging process can be
bypassed by pressing the I/O button a second time.
